2020 Year in Review

In today's #30daysoflists prompt I documented some of the 2020 highlights.   I tend to procrastinate and do my year in review towards the 30th and 31st. In conjunction with my word for the year SAVOR, I am letting these events marinate for a bit. Some were were delightful and fun, some were surprising and some were devastating. I'm really grateful that I made it a point to document these life events.  I always think that I'll remember details and memories, especially during the holidays. I really don't though, it all fades for me. I can look back at pictures (my phone is absolutely FULL of them) but there is something special about reading words that I've written. I can also tell my mental and emotional state by my handwriting. I don't have any regrets or guilt for not doing a better job of holiday recording, but I wish I had done that in the past when the kids were little. Finishing what I started, even if it is a year later!

 I first started keeping what I call a "successful" journal in 2017. I deemed this a victory because I filled nearly every page. Prior to this I had tried a couple of traveler's notebook covers + inserts. I'd given an A5 from Chic Sparrow a shot and for a very short time, I used a personal size from Foxy Fix. I also landed in pocket sizes covers, which I used the longest because they were the most portable, you know back when traveling was easy.  I loved the idea of carrying a journal with me. Usually when I didn't have something to write on, that's when inspiration would flow through. I would always intend to bring a journal. I diligently filled in my calendar and to-do list. I had inserts for my brain dumping and memory keeping. Then life would get busy and I'd revert to sticky notes. I traveled a lot so I ditched a big bulky purse and switched to a wristlet.
